Match report WRFC Vs Larkhall Athletic

It was another nippy night in Willand that set the stage for tonight’s game. As Willand prepared for their match against Larkhall hoping to improve upon their luck last game and make a push for the promotion places in the southern league South Division One. In set up before the game Fin Rook replaced Dougey Camillo in the left wing. Their opponents were hoping to boost their position to pull away from relegation positions after their cup exploits over their last few games.

Larkhall got close with a solid header his attempt hastily defended and cleared off the line by one of Willand’s defenders. Only moments later Willand made a great opportunity with a solid pass, but the shot went the wrong side of the post after an excellent passage of play.

Willand continued their tactic from last week defending from the front and pressing the Larkhall defenders in the first 20 minutes. After a long stalemate, Willand finally made a solid breakthrough with a well-worked goal with a shot off Owen How that deflected off the keeper Dorothy collected the loose ball and squared it to an unmarked Fin Rooke who made no mistake from two yards.

During the initial second half, Larkhall came out with a bit more energy pushing farther than before but still not troubling the keeper. 11 was replaced by 17 fifteen minutes into the second half in a straight swap by Willand. The rest of the match was uneventful being played in the midfield with both sides not getting many solid chances to score. That would be until Willand grabbed the winner in injury time after the ball ricocheted off Owen how who walked the ball in the back of the net.

After the game press officer Fin Keens interviewed David Steele the manager for Willand Rovers FC who stated that “it was a difficult game that they had over come.” And “although they were a little loose in the final third” they “Carved themselves win” against Larkhall

Man of the match Jake Miller performed exceptionally well this game who David Steele stated guided their win.

Overall Willand was the victor in this game by two-nil over Larkhall. Who gave a solid performance in this game?
