Match preview vs Thatcham Town

For Willand, it’s about keeping their unbeaten league run alive to 7 after Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Larkhall Athletic, a Fin Rooke opener and a late-sealing goal from Owen Howe made sure to add another vital three points on the board to send us up to 9th.
Thatcham Town have struggled with life in the Southern League after their move over from the Isthmian League, only having won one of their first five games with their only win of the campaign coming in a 1-0 win over Shaftesbury Town with striker Oliver Borne scoring 2 of their 3 league goals this season.
Thatcham’s last game was a 3-2 loss against Mousehole AFC at home with Borne scoring again for the hosts and former Cardiff City academy man Shamar Moore helping them to a second.
Thatcham had a good season last season in the Isthmian Division One South Central division where they finished in 8th place accumulating 62 points in 42 games, scoring 72 goals and conceding 62 goals, the new Southern League club who used to play in the Isthmian League have tried to match that this season but it has not been how they envisioned it to go.
The last time the clubs played each other was at Silver Street where this weekend hosts won 4-0 George Jeacock opened the scoring early in the first half in the 11th minute with 2 more goals before halftime as Felipe Barcelos scored 2 goals in the last 5 minutes of the half with substitute Lamin Sankoh scoring off of the bench to seal the victory in the 85th minute to make it 4-0. With Russ Gee as manager and David Steele as player-manager as he was on the bench for that game.
