Willand Rovers v Westbury United

We are back at home once again on Saturday with Wiltshire outfit Westbury United making the journey to Willand this Weekend in the Southern Football League Division One South with a 3 PM KO down at Silver Street.

Last time out for Rovers it was a midweek trip to the seaside to take on Exmouth Town in which Town’s sandcastles were knockdown with David Steele’s men taking all 3 as Phil Mendonca put us in front in the first half with a scramble to tap it away.

The hosts would pull it back in the second half with Joe Belsten firing from range and rippling the bottom left to level the scoring. Going into added time it looked like it was honours even until a bit of pure genius from Fin Rooke in the 95th minute secured the three vital points at Southern Road.

For this weekend’s visitors, their last game was a well-earned three points at home to Thatcham Town as both sides had been struggling recently but Aaron Cockerill and Josh Jenkins ensured the White Horse Men full points on a bitter night in Wiltshire.

One to look out for the visitors is Joe Beardwell who has scored 7 goals for Westbury so far in the 24/25 campaign, bringing a bit of calm to the relegation storm they’re currently involved with and is a fan favourite at Meadow Lane or the Platinum Hyundai Park for sponsorship reasons.

The last time out between both sides was a goalless draw down at Silver Street in January of this year, both sides certainly will be looking to add goals to their tallies this time around though.

With Rovers propelling themselves into the top 10 and only three points off a potential playoff spot going into the end of November, a vital opportunity with a struggling Westbury side in town would seem a good chance to try and record a win at home since the start of October against Larkhall.
