Willand Rovers v Plymouth Parkway – St Luke’s Bowl
A break from Southern League action this midweek as the attention turns to the retention of the St. Luke’s Bowl as we kick off our cup campaign with a visit from Southern Premier League side Plymouth Parkway this Wednesday in a 7:30 KO.
In the second of two Devon Derby within a space of several days, the first one succeeded and three points on the board for David Steele’s men as the difference was settled with a Harvey Dorothy goal rolling into the bottom right to help turnover the previous week’s struggles and put us back on track in the league.
Parkway haven’t had a fantastic start to their season, currently finding themselves in the relegation zone so a chance at some cup football and to change things up is a welcome break for Chris McPhee who is at the helm at Bolitho Park. Though their fortunes had turned around at the weekend with a mammoth result over Marlow, just the 5 goals against a fellow relegation opponent.
One to look out for in the opposition is youngster James Watts-Barceia who has taken well to the Southern League after linking up with Parkway from Peninsula East side Bovey Tracey over the summer after a successful spell of football in the 10th tier and for an 18-year-old scoring on a week to week basis, he is certainly a threat upfront.
This isn’t the first meeting between both sides in the 24/25 campaign as we welcomed our visitors back in July during pre-season where it was a respectable draw between Rovers and Parkway to boost both clubs preparations going into their campaigns.
As it is St Luke’s Bowl, there is a reduced entry for this fixture with all tickets standing at £5 so let’s pack the street for another fantastic Willand Wednesday with us unbeaten midweek at home all of this season so far.
