Match Preview
Westbury United v Willand Rovers

Rovers are once again in action and it’s on the road as we take on the White Horse Men of Westbury United in the Southern Football League Division One South with a 3 pm KO!

Last time out for Rovers, it was under the lights as we took on Shaftesbury in a rearranged fixture. An important game in hand for Willand, the lads made the most of it as three very vital points were secured as Calum Thomas & Louis Jagger-Cane opened their Rovers accounts as we find ourselves in touching distance of climbing out of the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, this weekend’s hosts sit in the middle of the pack. Safe enough from the claws of relegation but adrift of a shot at playoff magic. Ricky Hulbert’s men have cemented themselves as a regular in the division with their fourth successive season in the One South.

Last time out for Westbury, it was a midweek visit up the M5 to Sporting Club Inkberrow. However, it was the hosts who walked away with all three on Tuesday night with Aidan Clark & Jay Higgins-Pugsley netting for Inkberrow. Westbury redeemed themselves through Ali Sen who made sure the hosts couldn’t hold onto a clean sheet.

One to watch for the White Horse Men would have to be Josh Jenkins, formerly of the Bristol Rovers Academy. Jenkins is in good form at the moment with 2 in 5 but will be looking to up his numbers at the business end of the campaign to give the hosts a light at the end of the tunnel towards the playoffs.

The last time Rovers took on Westbury was back in November, when Rovers were reduced to 10 within the first half an hour. However, in the 93rd minute, Bradley Selwood provided a winner to give the visitors all three on a difficult afternoon of football at the Street.

The Fun Bus is in operation this weekend for the trip into Wiltshire, departing Silver Street at half 11, with a fare of £15. Contact Mike Hawkins or the club’s socials to book your place on the bus!
