Match Preview Bemerton Heath Vs WRFC

This Saturday and our latest test see us travel to Salisbury to take on Bemerton Heath Harlequins for the reverse fixture in the Southern League Division One South with a 3 pm KO at Moon Park.

Earlier this week, Rovers were due to play Exmouth Town in a Devon Derby but the rain kept on coming down on Tuesday and Wednesday which ultimately got it called off and moved to a later date so this fixture is the sole focus of David Steele’s men.

The last game for Willand was a 1-1 draw with Malvern Town who managed to secure a late point with their on-loan striker Olateju clawing back Harvey Dorothy’s goal midway in the second half.

Moving onto this week’s opponents, Harlequins sit in 15th in the division on 9 points after playing 9 where they have struggled for the full 3 points with most of their results consisting of draws on the road or at home. Manager James Milligan is in charge of the Salisbury outfit and is looking to try and get the second club in the city up to the same standards as their counterparts just 6 miles east of Moon Park.

A new face for the visitors is Olly Balmer who comes in from Winchester City where he helped The Citizens up top last season in the seventh tier and brings a wealth of experience from his days playing across the south-east and goals are certainly something which our hosts have lacked this season so far so it could be the boost they’ve been looking for.

As previously mentioned, we have already played Bemerton Heath this season at Silver Street on the opening day of the season where a 2-2 draw was the final scoreline with Jamie Richards and Harvey Dorothy scoring for Rovers on the afternoon.

The away days keep coming for Willand but the Southern League continues to test us in different ways. Will it be three points on the road this weekend at a mid-table Bemerton, you can find out tomorrow.
