Kitchen help needed!

The club is looking for some assistance in the kitchen.

The task involves serving at the hatchery, selling hot food and drink and providing players and officials with their post-match meal.

The hours involved will be Saturday afternoon and Wednesday evenings when there is a home fixture and there’s a guaranteed 19 shifts over an eight-month period.

The position(s) is paid, but if anyone is prepared to undertake the role as an unpaid volunteer, then the club would be  extremely grateful.

MyJobQuote Announces Tool Kit Competition Winner

The winner of the MyJobQuote tool kit competition has been announced with Tim Scheutz, a plumbing and heating contractor from Cambridge, taking home £250 worth of tools and equipment.

Tim’s tool kit included a DeWalt drill set, a Pro Dry Core Case and Holesaw set.

The tradesman was delighted by the news, saying of the win:

“It was the perfect surprise when I found out I’d won the MyJobQuote Tradesman competition. Winning the tool kits is one thing, but having recently joined the platform to take part, I’ve been blown away by the amount of job offers I’ve received.

He went on to discuss the results he’d seen from joining the online job quote platform, which he’d only recently signed up for, inspired by the competition;

“I’d say I’ve received around £40,000 in job offers in just 4 weeks. I would highly recommend the service to others.”

MyJobQuote had this to say on Tim’s surprise win, and his subsequent trade success;

‘The team would like to give a big congratulations to Tim for winning our recent competition, we’re ecstatic to hear he’s won so many jobs through our platform myjobquote.co.uk already.’

The company itself partnered with the Southern Football League to launch the competition in early March, with the aim of further supporting and representing local business across the Southern League area.

Since beginning as a small start-up in 2013, the MyJobQuote platform has continued to serve and connect over 30,000 tradespeople and 1 million homeowners nationwide.

The marketing company proudly promotes the power of small and local trade, and provides a free, secure, and valuable platform for both businessowners and clients.

Southern League suspension continues….

2020/21 Season Restart Statement

The Southern League last night issued a statement saying that, following the Government review of tier status for each area of member clubs, the current suspension on league matches will continue. It is unlikely that there will be any resumption before 9 January 2021. The SFL full statement can be seen by clicking the link below.

https://southern-football-league.co.uk/News/127053/202021-Season-Restart-Statement

This means that our originally scheduled matches over the Christmas and New Year period, on 26 December (home v Bristol Manor Farm) and 2 January (away v Bideford) are postponed.

We will keep you posted as to whether the home match v Mangotsfield Utd will go ahead as planned on Saturday 9 January.

FA Trophy – Saturday 5th December 2020

Our FA Trophy 1st round proper tie away at Poole Town is definitely going ahead on Saturday 5 December 2020, kick off 3.00pm.

Tickets will be limited as Poole Town will be operating on their pre-lockdown maximum capacity figure of 600.

Tickets can be bought on-line by clicking on the link below:

https://www.seetickets.com/event/poole-town-v-willand-rovers/black-gold-stadium/1689400

There may be tickets available at the gate on match day if the 600 spectator limit is not reached in advance sales. If there are, we understand it will be card payment only – no cash. Before travelling without a ticket I suggest you contact Poole Town directly via email at secretary@pooletownfc.co.uk or by phone at 07771 604289  to check that tickets will be available on the gate.

We are still awaiting confirmation from the Southern Football League as to when league fixtures will resume, but we are anticipating the re-start to be on Saturday 12 December with a home match against Winchester City, kick off 3.00pm. We are expecting further advice from the SFL later this week so I will give you further notification as soon as we know.

All the best and stay safe.

Rovers make FA Cup progress

Rovers were wasteful in front of goal as they eventually overcame Toolstation Western League outfit Bridport Town 2-1 under the Silver Street floodlights to make FA Cup progress.

Rovers enjoyed the greater share of possession throughout the 90 minutes and took the lead eight minutes before the break when, following a neat interchange between Mani Skeet and Will Richards, Skeet tucked the ball home at the near post.

That proved to be the only goal of a well-contested first half.

Two minutes after the re-start, a long ball played forward resulted in a corner to the visitors and, when the Rovers back line failed to clear, a goalmouth scramble ended with the ball nestling in the back of the net!

Rovers were quickly back onto the front foot and retained possession very well, opening up the Bridport defence time and again, but a combination of poor finishing and excellent goalkeeping kept them at bay.

On the hour mark the third and final goal arrived and it came via a corner which was delivered into the area and, when it fell to Craig Veal, in a single movement he controlled the ball and fashioned an opportunity that he took with aplomb, drilling the ball home.

Rovers continued to boss proceedings, but as had been the case for much of the contest, for all their possession, they were unable to find a third goal.

The final 10 minutes saw Bridport throw everyone forward and force a quick succession of corners, but the Rovers back held stood firm through the final whistle.

Rovers reward for the victory is a trip to Shepton Mallet for a Preliminary Round tie on Saturday, September 12.

Shepton Mallett, who like Bridport ply their trade in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division, won their extra preliminary round tie at South West Peninsula League Premier East outfit Torrington 3-0.
