Willand Rovers v Didcot Town

Spring is here, the sun hopefully will be shining on Saturday and Rovers are back at home this weekend as we host Didcot Town in the Southern Football League Division One South with a 3 pm KO at the Street!

Last time out for Rovers, Wiltshire-bound Willand looked to climb out of the relegation zone and at a shaky White Horse Men side, the odds were in our favour. Fin Rooke opened the scoring 7 minutes in with a curling strike past Manning. Efforts were doubled down within the first quarter hour as Jagger-Cane worked his way in for his second goal of the week and Harvey Dorothy continued to add to his tally for the season with the all-important third of the afternoon. The hosts found consolation but it was Rovers who walked away with a vital three points.

This week’s visitors are Didcot Town who currently reside in the middle of the table. The Railwaymen’s season has been one of stabilisation in the division but they’ll be confident that another season in Division One South is calling for Jamie Heapy’s men.

Last time out for the visitors it was Tavistock who made the trek over to Loop Meadow where it took until the 61st minute for the net to be pierced as Owen Tyger-James Hall bagged a brace with a late sting from Dylan Conlan to secure all three against a Tavvy side deep into a relegation battle. Before that, a 10-goal thriller at Inkberrow. Not many scorelines end like that in Division One South for sure.

In the reverse fixture, Rovers worked hard for a 1-1 draw with the hosts breaking forward first through Owen James in the 68th minute as Bailey Kempster’s goal with 15 minutes to go helped us to a point on a cold November afternoon in Oxfordshire.

One to watch for this weekend’s visitors would have to be Owen Tyger-James Hall who has scored 11 in 33 for Diddy. Making the jump up from Clanfield in the Hellenic League, his goalscoring record was unbelievable with 30 in 41 but he has made the jump up seem easy with step 3 clubs certainly keeping tabs on the youngster.

Are you an Exeter City or Torquay United season ticket holder who’s looking for a fixture weekend? We are offering all ticket holders concession entry when you show your season pass at the turnstile.
