The Football Club was packed to the rafters for the 2015 Rovers Junior section presentation evening – and it all, as ever, went like clockwork!
The stars of the season – indeed, after a campaign when both teams beat all who came before them – YES, BOTH U15S AND U16S DID NOT LOSE, OR DRAW, A SINGLE GAME – THEY WERE ALL WON – it’s probably more opportune to say that the TEAMS are the stars of the season. However, there are always the individual honours’ winners and they were heralded at the event and, in the case of the Under-16s, there was a very special individual honour for TOM BADCOTT who was deemed to be the ‘Most Valuable Player (MVP)’for the team over the five season’s it had been in existence.
The draw was – well simply monumental – THANKS TO DEBBIE AND NORMAN FOWERAKER – who else – for the excellent way they delivered the draw – and flogged the tickets. Big thanks too for the folk who donated the draw prizes; so many of which there were that two tables were needed to show them off!
There was also an Irish Bingo, superbly organised by Simon Fry.
Thanks are also due to Jo Elsworthy who once again stepped in any role at the event that required her organised approach, and thanks also to the bar ladies – Mary and Trina who served plenty of ale!
Thanks also to Rob ‘fast frame’ Mitchell, the club photographer, who snapped away to make sure we have a pictorial record of a brilliant night.
The last bucket load of thanks is due to youth section orchestrator John Biss who also does an extraordinary job beavering away behind the scenes. You never really see the work he does BUT BY JOVE HE WORKS!
The players were treated to burger and chips from Rovers resident caterers Flash & Harry’s
So that is that for another season – next to an AGM after which it’ll all start again next season with U16s in the Taunton and District League and the U17/18s in the Somerset FA Under-18 Floodlit League – happy days!
