Sunday’s scheduled opposition BISHOPS LYDEARD are UNABLE to raise a side for our Taunton and District Youth League meeting which means two successive Sundays that this has happened. We were asked by the league if it woudl be possible to play a home fixture with WEMBDON – but Silver Street is already booked for the Under-15s and as we have now set down who plays what matches where between the three youth teams; U15, U16 and U18 we ARE NOT GOING BACK ON THAT. Without an  alternative pitch it means another blank matchday.

Team boss Clive Jones said: “It is so frustrating and you cant help but wonder if the teams really do want to play us anymore for this to be happening so often. We have played just the two home games this season in the league and frankly I am loathe to play ‘home’ games anywhere other than Silver Street because one of the reason’s  we entered  the league was to give our players and visiting teams the experience of playing on a Western League ground and that’s what a fixture between Rovers and that very good Wembdon side deserves. So we’ll wait and play Tom (Hembery) and his lads on Silver Street as and when it can be done paying due respect to our other club teams and their pitch needs.”

The remaining Rovers fixtures – as things stand are:

March 29 HOME Bishops Lydeard

April 5 HOME  Staplegrove

April 12 HOME Wembdon

April 19 HOME Minehead

plus we also have to try and  fit in a floodlit game with Dan Toogood and his Holway team.

also tba Bishops Lydeard (away)

and the cup final which is down for a May 3 date that is IMPOSSIBLE for us to play with so many players (12 of our squad) away that weekend on tours and holidays –  more  on that in due course
