After
two impressive away wins, Willand manager
Clive Jones appealed to his players to put
in a good performance in front of the home
faithful, but his words seemed to have fallen
onto deaf ears as his side were well beaten
by Bristol Manor Farm in front of a good
sized crowd at The Stan Robinson Stadium.
Again the 'Rovers were caught out early
doors as a harmless corner in the 6th minute
by Mike Burnett drifted across the box allowing
an unmarked Ben Hiscox to place the ball
past the statuesque like home 'keeper Nathan
Whatley. The home side leveled against the
run of play, but as it turned out was the
goal off the game. A wonderful ball over
the BMF defense by James Ansell found Paul
Pocock who finished well with a low drive
from just inside the area on 14 minutes.
A brief spell of Willand dominance followed
with both Ansell and Pocock trying their
luck with shot from distance, BMF should
have taken the lead on 38 minutes when Hiscox
neat footwork left the Willand defense floundering
but he could only watch as his shot flashed
agonizingly wide of the post. Three minutes
from half time, Scott Feltham thought he
had given BMF the lead as he waltzed into
the Willand penalty area, but saw his goal
bound shot somehow cleared off the line
by the alert Phil Everett. The second half
saw the introduction of Sam Williams on
for the injured Everett and he did have
some instant impact, winning numerous headers
and flick on's but to no avail. It was BMF
who again showed more drive and invention
under the captaincy of former Welton Rovers
striker Leon Simpson, with Aaron Anderson
shooting just wide on 47 minutes, and it
came as no surprise when they took the lead
just 6 minutes later. A corner from Kai
Thomas wasn't cleared and after a bout of
head tennis the ball fell to the predatory
Hiscox who hooked the ball gleefully into
the back of the net. Williams came the closest
to bringing Willand back into the game and
was unlucky to see his header cleared off
the line on 56 minutes. As the home side
huffed and puffed in a vain attempt to get
back into the game, Feltham gave BMF their
third goal that their play deserved netting
in the last minute and completing a good
day for the Bristol side.
