SHOLING edged to victory at Willand Rovers thanks to a goal from Robert Flooks on the stroke of half-time.
Long-time league leaders Sholing started brightly, with Brad Targett testing home custodian George Burton.
Willand came into the game with Jack Rice trying his luck from distance. Scholing were indebted to a good save from Theo Widger from a fine effort by Rice.
The decisive moment of the match came in the 45th minute when a corner was stabbed home at the far post by Flooks to give Sholing the lead at the interval.
In the second half, Ollie Bray twice tested the young Sholing keeper, who proved to be a match for whatever Willand threw at him. For all their huff and puff, Willand were unable to find an equaliser.
