Match Report

We were on the road again, this time to Lymington Town. After a good Christmas with a win and a draw we were full of confidence going into this game. The weather was not pleasant and all the other games in the area were called off.

Once we got to the stadium and we looked at the pitch we were amazed the game was going ahead but it was deemed playable.

We started the game and you could see it was going to be tough, the wind was strong and we were playing against it. In the 6th minute Josh Searle whipped a great cross from the left, Bailey Kempster brought it down and he set up Douglas Camilo who didn’t catch it right, the ball just rolled to the keeper.

In the 11th minute Michael Lilly did well down the left, cut back and crossed to Ollie Bray who shot but it was deflected for a corner. Douglas Camilo took the corner Bailey Kempster got his head to it but the keeper saved it.

The in the 13th minute Lymington scored it was a long ball over the top and was volleyed by Lymington striker Jireh Oyebamiji. George Burton made a very good initial save but Lymington’s no.10 Jireh Oyebamiji was there for the rebound to just tap it into an open goal. 1-0

In the 16th minute Lymington’s No.9 Mitchell-Carlton Speechley-Price hit a very good first time shot but George Burton pulled out another great save.

In the 33rd minute Lymington doubled their lead, this time it was a penalty, Lymington’s No.9 Mitchell-Carlton Speechley-Price stepped up to take a shot straight down the middle. 2-0

Josh Searle slid through Ollie Bray in the 42nd minute, he then made a low cross to Douglas Camilo who had an opportunity to pull one back but his shot was blocked by a Lymington defender.

Half-time Lymington 2 Willand 0

Willand knew they needed a big half and in the 50th minute they pulled one back, Bailey Kempster beat his man and slid the ball through to Douglas Camilo who turned and smashed it into the bottom left corner. 2-1

Willand carried on pushing but Lymington’s defence was resolute. So in the 57th minute Willand made their first change Lewis hill came off to make way for Josh Baker.

In the 72nd minute Michael Lilley turned on the ball 30 yards out and had a strike with his left but it was just wide.

In the 75th minute Willand made their second change, Michael Lilly made way for Dan Koita

Then in the 85th minute from nowhere Lymington got a 3rd, it was scored by No.12 Harrison Cable 3.-1

Full time

Lymington 3 Willand 1

This was a very frustrating game, the pitch was heavy, the weather was horrible and Willand could not get a foot in the game, Lymington were the deserved winners on the day.

Now the boys need to brush themselves off and get ready for our third away game of January on Saturday 14th against Bishops Cleeves. They are on a three win run at the moment so this will be a very tough game.
