Match Report

Willand travelled to Totton AFC

This was the only game on in the Southern league one with Totton on a impressive run of results and with Willand having lost their last two and have not scored a goal since Saturday 12th November. Would this have been the weekend to at least break one of those trends?

The game started very slowly, the pitch was very hard under foot and you could tell the players were not happy with it.

In the 6th minute Dougie Camilo played a great ball into Ollie Bray but he could not connect and the ball went out for a goal kick.

In the 12th minute it was scrappy play from Willand which let Totton into the game, lucky nothing came of it

Then in the 18th minute Ollie Bray played a good ball into the box but no one was there to put it away

In the 22nd minute Totton got a corner after a great save from George Burton luckily nothing came of it still 0-0

Then in the 26th minute Totton got a free kick and Ashleigh Hewitt made a vital block

Then in the 28th minute Totton finally broke through and scored, it was Matthews Burrows who scored from a deflection from the Willand defence

In the 33rd minute Ryan Guppy headed over the bar from a corner

In the 37th minute another free kick for Totton and again another great clearance from Ashleigh Hewitt

In the 42nd minute Willand got a free kick, it was taken by Dougie Camilo, unfortunately it hit a Totton player and came to nothing

Half time Totton 1-0 Willand

In the 55th minute Willard were definitely on top but Totton were doing what they needed to do and did a lot of time wasting

In the 57th minute Willand made there first substitution, Dan Kotia on for Ollie Bray

In the 68th minute a great save from George Burton kept Willand in the game

In the 70th minute Willand’s second sub, Josh Baker made way for Lewis Hill

In the 73rd minute Willand’s Dan Koita went down with a head injury. Totton’s physio was on the pitch in seconds a massive thumbs up, total class.

75th minute Willand made there third subst Dougle Camilo made way for Sully McKenna

In the 77th minute the best chance of the game for Willand, Adam Kelly had a great shot from just outside the area but the ball went just over

In the 79th minute Totton should have been 2-0 up, George Burton & Adam Kelly both went for the ball and both missed it. Then it fell for a Totton player who was only six yards out but he managed to shoot over the bar of a open goal.

In the 80th minute free kick for Willand was taken by Adam Kelly, Totton defence cleared easily

In the 83rd minute another chance for Totton but luckily the shot went over the bar

In the 85th minute Totton hit the bar, Willand were really struggling with the pace of Totton’s front line.

Full time

Totton AFC 1 Willand 0

We came away with no points again but a 1-0 score line was flattering to us. It could have been a lot worse, we held our own for periods of the game which we can look at as a positive but we need to start scoring goals.

Up next we are playing Tavistock on Christmas Eve lets hope we can turn our fortunes around then
