Match Report

Willand went into this game full on confidence on the back of two wins and they were up to third in the table.

 

The first ten minutes saw early pressure from Melksham with back to back corners, but Kieran Bailey had two good headers to clear the danger.

In the 10th minute Melksham’s no.9 Noah Coppin played the ball wide left, he then chopped it in on his right and shot straight at George Burton.

In the 14th minute Willand had a free kick swung in from the left by Will Richards, Adam Poole got his head on it but Melksham’s keeper Alfie Burnett saved the shot.

In the 17th minute Melksham took the lead. Melksham’s No.8 Sam Hendy headed in a cross from the right, which beat George Burton who was planted on his line.

After the goal Willand stepped up the pressure, Douglas Camilo sent Adam Kelly down the right but the cross was over cooked. Then Kieran Bailey shot from 35 yards out but Alfie Burnett saved.

In the 33rd minute Will Richards hit a free kick on the halfway line into the box, Alfie Burnett came to collect but made a mess of it. The Melksham Centre Back was there to clear.

The ball fell to Lewis Hill in the 39th minute 25 yards out after a Will Richards cross was cleared. The shot was just wide of the left post.

In the 42nd minute Will Richards beat his man again and whipped a cross in from the left looking to find Douglas Camilo but it was just in front of him and he could not keep the ball in.

In the 44th minute Melksham added to their lead totally against the run of play. It was a deflected shot from 20 yards

Willand made two changes going into the second half Josh Baker & Douglas Camilo came off and Dean Stamp & Oliver Bray replaced them.

In the 50th minute Lewis Hill got in behind the back four, he cut it back to Dean Stamp who took a touch and shot but the center back blocked.

In the 54th minute Melksham were awarded a penalty and they scored from the spot

Willand made their third substitution in the 58th minute, Adam Kelly made way for Josh Searle.

After the third goal Melksham shut up shop and the game fizzed out. The only other chances in the game came from a glancing header from Dean Stamp which was wide of the post.and a powerful shot from Josh Searle which Alfie Burnett saved.

It was not a great day for us but this was the first time we had been beaten away from home in the league this season.

Up next we travel to Larkhall Athletic where we will be looking to bounce back from the Melksham defeat.
