Match Report

Willand Rovers bow out of Devon St Lukes Bowl losing 3-0 to Tiverton Town at Silver St.

Tiverton arrived with a strong team hoping to avenge the 5-1 defeat in the Southern League Cup a month previously.

Both teams started brightly with energy and commitment with both defences holding firm, whilst little goal mouth action in the 1st half Theo Simpson for Tiverton shaved the crossbar with a shot on 30 minutes and a by line cross across the 6 yard box on 35 minutes saw Adam Hill sliding in to clear for Willand.

Keeper George Burton and defender Ryan Guppy also combined to save what looked like a certain goal from 6 yards for the visitors. Unfortunately Ryan Guppy was booked on 40 minutes for a tackle from behind in the middle of the park.

0-0 at half time and recognised as a fair reflection of the 1st half overall

The second half was a slightly different affair, an early excellent save from George Burton then saw Tiverton take more control. Despite Willand making three substitutions to beef up the midfield Tiverton were awarded a penalty on 65 minutes which Louis Morrison slotted home. A further penalty 5 minutes later was also slotted home by Morrison and Tiverton remained in control thereafter. A third goal on 93 minutes from Olaf Koszelk was a bit harsh for what was a plucky performance from Willand Rovers.

Tiverton progress to the next round and we wish our neighbours well.
