Match Report

Disappointing day at the office for the Rovers, losing their first Devon derby of the season away at Plymouth Parkway 1-4!

Willand looked the better side in the first half, creating a number of very good chances which were all well saved by Moore in the home goal. In fact, Parkway didn’t have a shot on the Willand goal in that first half. HT 0-0.

Parkway started the second half in much improved fashion, looking sharper and with much more attacking threat. Within two minutes of the restart Mikey Williams put the hosts ahead with a well struck shot from the edge of the box into the top corner; George had no chance.

Parkway were now throwing the kitchen sink at Willand! On 50 mins Jack Crago hit the post, but just one minute late he got his goal with a fierce first time shot from outside the area. PP 2-0 up.

The pressure on Rovers was relentless and on 57 minutes a careless challenge brought down a PP forward just inside the box; penalty! … which was confidently despatched by River Allen; 3-0. Three goals conceded by Rovers in 8 minutes!

Willand came back into the game after this, although PP continued to have the best of the play. on 74 minutes Will Richards pulled a goal back, picking up the rebound after a screaming 20 yarder from Alfie Moulden came back off the bar. 10 minutes later Richards had a glorious chance to make it 3-2, but he couldn’t control his shot & it blazed over the bar.

Parkway went straight down the other end and made sure of the points, Crago scoring his second with a good finish after being set up by Carter. 4-1.

The final few minutes passed without incident or major threat on either goal.

Rovers will feel disappointed. Having controlled the first half they were again guilty of not taking their chances when in ascendancy and of being turned over by opposition who changed things around without any counter-play in the second half.

Lets hope we fare better in the FA Cup next weekend.
