About our Football Club

Willand Rovers - ' very much a family club'

WILLAND ROVERS is a Football Club based on the main road than runs through the Mid Devon village of Willand.

Willand has grown considerably over the past two decades with lots of new housing built and the Football Club has grown with the local community. The club has a thriving social club that is open most nights of the week and provides a home to Skittles, Pool and Darts Teams.

On matchdays the club is open before, during, and after matches, be they 1st team, Reserve team or Youth team games.

On matchdays, entry to the 1st team games is £6.00, this includes a matchday programme which always contains at the very least, twelve pages of news on the oppositon and includes a club by club guide to all the other Western League top flight clubs.

GETTING TO SILVER STREET:

From the North - M5 Motorway southbound until Junction 27 - having left the motorway at the roundabout, take the FIRST LEFT and travel past the service station area and continue for short distance until arriving at a T-Junction. On you right will be the Waterloo Cross Inn and ahead of you will be a garden centre - TURN RIGHT and stay on this road into WILLAND. At the first roundabout you reach keep straight on and the ground will appear on your LEFT after a short time - parking is in the local streets.

From the South - You cna leave the M5 motorway at Junction 28 (Cullompton), take 1st left off slip road from M5, drive past Weary Traveller Pub on your left and, at the first mini rounadbout, take the 2nd exit right following signs to WILLAND. Keep veering right until you arrive in Willand, continue passing a garage on your left and the ground is about half a mile up that road on your right.

By Train - get off the train at Tiverton parkway Station and hail a taxi - the short journey will cost in the region of £3 -£5.

President Peter Ward wears his Rovers colours very much on his sleeve. Is there a job at Silver Street he has not been involved in? Unlikely! Quite simply Peter is the sort of chap EVERY club needs amongst their number!
Chairman - Mike Mitchell
He's the man at the Rovers helm
Mike Mitchell is the Willand Rovers chairman, a smashing man, totally devoted to his football club, and no mean player himself in his playing days. You will find 'Mitch', as he is more affectionately known as, in many of the archived Rovers team pictures.
Football Secretary - Tony Baker
The man with the magic pen
Rovers Secretary Tony Baker is another of those, 'football is in the blodd' individuals. It is he who is charged with ensuring that the administrational matters of all things football at Silver Strreet, are all singing and dancing - he can also ofetn be found supporting all manner of projects in and aroudn the Silver Street clubhouse.

The Man who counts 'em in!

Mike Mares is the Rovers gateman, to be found in all weathers ensuring that those coming in to the ground on matchdays put their hands in their pockets to cough up the entrance fee. Mike is also the guy responsible for organising some magnificent fund raising Bingo sessions in the village.
