A James Blake hat-trick saw Rovers ease their way into the second round of the Les Phillips Cup.
Rovers dominated from start to finish with striker Blake scoring both the first half goals that separated the sides at the interval. Blake completed his hat-trick midway through the second half after Dean Stamp had put the visitors’ three goals to the good. Blake has now scored trebles in successive matches and, after a belated start to the season following injury, now has nine goals in just seven appearances this term.
Also through into the second round after November 15 matches are: Division One Wellington (who have former Rovers boss Clive Jones working with the managerial team). The Somerset side sprang the shock of the round with a 3-2 win over top flight high-filers Melksham Town. Hengrove Athletic (1-0 winners at Warminster Town), Welton Rovers (3-1 victors at Sherborne Town), Corsham Town (who knocked out hosts Roman Glass St George in a penalty shoot-out after they drew 3-3).
Radstock threw up another surprise with a 2-0 home win over Buckland Athletic whilst Oldland Abbottonians put out Bishops Sutton.
