Galmington U16’s       0  –  3   Willand U16’s
Willand continued their march at the top of the Taunton and District Division One Table with a convincing win at third placed Galmington.
The Rovers were put under much early pressure from the determined Taunton based hosts and the back line of goalkeeper Hill, Prout, Futcher, Hawkins and Nicholas had to work hard to preserve parity. However, after a number of breaks from Willand’s dynamic left winger Branden Simsek the deadlock was broken when Simsek let fly after a trademark surging run to give Willand a 1-0 lead after 25 minutes.
A number of chances were created by Galmington but the Rovers glovesman Sam Hill was in unstoppable form with a faultless display between the sticks ensuring his team retained a slender 1-0 lead at the interval.
Substitutes Jacob Turner, Chris Badcott and Haydn Tucker entered the fray ensuring well-earned breathers for team mates Oscar Walsh, Captain Tom Jeacock and the hard working Dylan Nicholas. Chris Badcott resumed his successful centre half pairing with the always impressive Matt Futcher and this ensured that any chance of a Galmington comeback were snuffed out. By now the midfield trio of Prout, Hobday and Blackmore were combining at will with a bang in form striker Chaz Dodd who was tormenting his opposition throughout. Half way through the second half the scoreline was doubled when top scorer Oscar Walsh outpaced the defence to slot home and the game was wrapped up when Walsh once more showed his class to wrap up a flowing move instigated by Jack Hobday to make the final score Galmington 0 Willand 3.
Man of the Match was shared between Sam Hill, Jack Hobday and Chaz Dodd.
Goals were scored by Walsh 2 and Simsek 1.
